The World Around Us

Zig-zag folding of the Carboniferous rocks at Millook, Cornwall, the result of tectonic activity.

Evidence of a major event since the deposition of these rocks. This zig-zag folding of the turbiditic sandstones and shales at Millook, Cornwall is thought to provide evidence of the tectonic activity and mountain building, known as the Veriscan orogeny. This event would have been shortly after the sediments had been deposited.
